Vice President, Administration and Finance

The State University of New York Plattsburgh is seeking an accomplished and transparent leader to become its next Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPA&F).

SUNY Plattsburgh is a vibrant, public, comprehensive university, and member of the State University of New York's (SUNY) system of higher education. The university is recognized for the way that it maintains high academic standards and expectations in a caring, supportive environment which is rooted in equity and inclusion. SUNY Plattsburgh currently enrolls over 4,000 undergraduates and over 400 graduate students, who attend in-person classes on SUNY Plattsburgh's 300-acre main campus on the shores of Lake Champlain, its branch campus at Queensbury, or through its online and extended learning platforms.

The new vice president for administration and finance will be a strong, collaborative leader who can work within a complex organization to foster a culture of service, financial transparency, and responsibility. They will bring an understanding that the student is the university's primary focus, gathering data and making data-informed decisions to advance the core mission of student success. The VPA&F will lead budget development and work with departments to envision needs aligned with the institution's strategic goals. They will analyze data and performance on potential areas of improvement, implement cost-saving measures to maximize efficiencies, conduct forecasting and risk assessment, and ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations. The VPA&F will actively engage in shared governance, working creatively and collaboratively with campus constituents as well as community members. The VPA&F will also be a collegial representative of the Plattsburgh campus within the broader SUNY network, both serving as an effective advocate and helpful partner to other SUNY institutions and the central system office while always emulating excellence in finance and administration for which the university is renowned.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated, progressive experience and expertise in areas such as finance, budgeting, organizational management, facilities management, and/or educational administration. Demonstrated success at providing executive-level leadership and experience overseeing complex financial and organizational operations at a comprehensive public higher education institution is preferred. Serving as a member of the President's Cabinet, the next VPA&F must have the ability to closely collaborate with the president, provost, senior leadership, deans, and other key constituents to support the development and review of institutional plans and goals while assuring effective and strategic management of financial resources. A bachelor's degree, in any field, with a master's degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, educational administration or a related field is preferred. A bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, economics; or a bachelor's degree, in any field, with a master's in business, accounting, finance, economics, educational administration or a related field is required.

The salary range for this position is $195,000-$225,000.
