Title: Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director for Finance & Administration

 

Position Summary:

 

The Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director for Finance & Administration will serve as an advisor and liaison to the Vice President & Director of Athletics. Incumbent will have a record of success in higher education leadership responsibilities and achievements in the administration of Division I intercollegiate athletics within a comprehensive university or equivalent experience with a sports organization or entity. The Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director for Finance & Administration will work closely with the Vice President & Director of Athletics to build a strong, positive athletics program and encourage support for the University among a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. Key stakeholders include students, faculty, staff, coaches, alumni, letter winners, parents, donors, the media, business and community leaders, and other supporters of Temple University.

 

The Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director for Finance & Administration serves on Athletics’ senior administrative staff as its Chief Financial Officer. This position is responsible for all aspects of the financial/business, administrative, and personnel activities of the athletics department.  This position is responsible for the annual development and effective implementation of a $60+ million athletics budget and is responsible for the day-to-day management of all departmental revenues and expenses. Position is also responsible for the coordination and communication of annual athletics department goals and spearheads strategic planning initiatives. The Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director for Finance & Administration also serves as the sport administrator for assigned sports.

 

The position supports the University’s academic mission and programs by aligning Temple University’s Division I intercollegiate athletics program with the mission and values of the University. The Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director for Finance & Administration serves as a spokesperson for the Athletics program, promoting its philosophy and values, and regularly engaging stakeholders and constituents. The Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director for Finance & Administration integrates and engages student-athletes, staff, and coaches into the programs and activities of the University and also takes the lead in developing a climate of trust, honesty, integrity, and open communications while advocating for and committing to all aspects of diversity and inclusion—a climate where all constituents feel valued, and differences are celebrated.

Required Education and Experience:

 

Master’s Degree and a minimum of eight years of intercollegiate athletics administration experience at a senior level. Demonstrated understanding and experience in budget management and long-range financial planning in a complex organization based on sound business management skills and sophisticated financial capabilities. Demonstrated management, leadership, and supervisory experience. Experience managing confidential information. Experience in and demonstrated understanding of NCAA, Conference, and University regulations, policies, and practices. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred:

 

*Ten (10) years of directly related experience.
