The Integrated Media Department at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor to teach media-arts production (3/3 load) beginning Fall 2024. Primary responsibilities of this position include teaching audio-production (field-recording and mixing) as well as introductory-level digital video/film production courses (camera operation and editing). Additionally, ability to teach courses focused on radio/podcasting, advanced film/video production, new/emerging media (VR, AR, interactive, etc), and/or non-fiction storytelling are all highly desirable, as is a teacher-scholar who will address questions of diversity, equity, social justice, and the common good across the curriculum in alignment with Gonzaga’s mission.

We wish to welcome teacher-scholars who possess strong pedagogical abilities, with particular sensitivity to inclusive, equity-minded teaching practices and who have demonstrated experience or interest in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students from a variety of backgrounds and identities, including those historically marginalized in the academy.

Required Qualifications:
• PhD, MFA, MA or MS in media production (film, television, radio, new media) or related field.
• Ability to teach courses focused on audio production and basic video production.
• Two years of professional and/or teaching experience with media production.
• Demonstrated ability to implement inclusive, equity-minded teaching practices.

Desired Qualifications:
• Ability to teach courses focused on radio/podcast production.
• Ability to teach courses focused on scriptwriting and non-fiction storytelling.
• Ability to teach advanced film/video production courses.
• Ability to teach courses focused on new/emerging media production.
• Demonstrable commitment to issues applicable to diverse populations.

Job Duties:
• Teach 18 credit hours per year (typically three courses per semester) with topics covering audio and video production. Teaching audio-production (field-recording and mixing) as well as introductory-level digital video/film production courses (camera operation and editing).
• Support the department and university through advising, service and other forms of academic citizenship.
• Maintain an active record of research and professional development.
