Are you passionate about softball and coaching? Do you have the drive to help student-athletes reach their full potential both on and off the field? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join Dakota State University as an Assistant Softball Coach!

Responsibilities:

    • Assist in planning and implementing effective practice sessions, focusing on skill development, and strategy to maximize player potential.
    • Provide skill instruction, guidance, and support to players during practices, games, and individual training sessions.
    • Evaluate player performance, assess strengths and weaknesses, and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
    • Collaborate with the Head Coach to recruit talented student-athletes who demonstrate the potential to contribute to the softball program’s success.
    • Help coordinate team travel arrangements, equipment management, and other administrative tasks.
    • Provide guidance and support to student-athletes in balancing their academic commitments with athletic responsibilities. 
    • Encourage academic success and monitor progress to ensure eligibility requirements are met.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, discipline, respect, and integrity.
    • Ensure compliance with NAIA rules and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Previous collegiate softball playing experience is strongly preferred.
  • Coaching experience at the high school, college, or club level is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations pertaining to softball programs is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective coaching strategies and skill development programs.
  • Knowledge of the evaluation and assessment of student athlete skills and abilities.
  • Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends and travel as required by the position.
  • Ability to obtain a CDL driver’s license for driving of team personnel.

Due to unprecedented growth, The Beacom College of Computer and Cyber Sciences at Dakota State University in Madison South Dakota is seeking applicants for multiple tenure-track, full-time (9 month), benefits-eligible, faculty positions in all disciplines of Computer Science (all areas), Cyber Security (technical and non-technical), and Artificial Intelligence (all specializations).   • Teaching a range of applied undergraduate and/or graduate courses in one or more of these areas:
    • Computer Science, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence.
  • Researching and publishing relevant scholarship.
  • Active pursuit of grant and funding opportunities.
  • Additional duties will include advising students, serving on university committees, assisting with recruitment activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in computer science, computer engineering, cyber security, or a closely related discipline prior to the start date of the appointment. ABD candidates may be considered.
  • Effective written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Ability to develop a strong and active research agenda.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching or developing courses with technical, hands-on exercises and labs.
  • Strong potential for scholarly research, publication and attracting external funding in areas related to Computer Science, Cyber Security, and Artificial Intelligence.

Information about the Beacom College of Computer and Cyber Sciences:

The Beacom College of Computer and Cyber Sciences currently offers five undergraduate programs, including Computer Science, Cyber Operations, Network and Security Administration, Artificial Intelligence, and Computer Game Design. Two master programs, including a Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) with specializations in Cyber Operations and Artificial Intelligence and a Master of Science in Cyber Defense (MSCD). Salary:

Assistant Professor - $85,000 / Associate and Full Professor salary will be determined based on rank and experience
