Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor, Media Arts Production

The Department of Theatre and Media Arts (TMA) at Brigham Young University (BYU), invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Teaching Professors in Media Arts Production in one or more of the following areas and specializations:

• Production Management Cinematography Sound Grip/Electric Post-Production Emerging Media Fund Raising and Distribution

This continuing-faculty-status (tenure track) position will require teaching a 4-4-2 load.  Along with teaching, this position will co-create media with students, will advise student projects and provide guidance to foster creative and innovative work, mentor students to ensure academic success and professional growth, serve on department, college, and university committees. There is no expectation of scholarship (research/creative work) for this positions.

About the Department

The Department of Theatre and Media Arts, housed in the College of Fine Arts and Communications, hosts five majors (Acting, Media Arts, Music Dance Theatre, Theatre Arts Studies, and Theatre Education).  23 full-time faculty, 10 full-time arts administrators, and over 30 adjunct faculty contribute to the education of our ~500 undergraduate students.  We run a theatre season of 7 faculty-directed and 4 student-directed productions in three different theatres, and produce 7-8 fiction, non-fiction, and animated short films each year.

• Rank will be commensurate with experience. 
• Duties/Expectations: 
• Teach courses in one or more of the following areas: film or media production, production management, cinematography, sound, grip/electric, post-production, emerging media, fundraising, and distribution. 
• Teach four courses (12 credit hours) during both the fall and winter semesters, and two courses (6 credit hours) during spring or summer term. The full teaching load for a professional faculty member is ten courses per academic year. There is no expectation of scholarship (research/creative work) for these positions.
  •  NOTE: Professional Teaching Faculty enjoy the same privileges as professional faculty. They may receive continuing faculty status (CFS) and rank advancement. They may vote in department decisions regarding faculty appointments, CFS, rank advancement, and all other matters. They may serve as chairs or deans, on committees, and in other administrative assignments, and they are eligible for university awards.

• Mentor students to ensure academic success and professional growth. 
• Serve on department, college, and university committees.
