Position Summary

The Grady College of The University of Georgia invites applications for a full-time 9-month Academic Professional Associate, to begin August 2024.

Responsibilities
The individual hired for this position oversees operations related to the Emerging Media Masters. In addition to these responsibilities, this individual will teach courses in the New Media Institute.

More about the New Media Institute
The New Media Institute ( nmi.uga.edu ) is an interdisciplinary unit of the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, dedicated to the exploration of the creative, commercial, and critical dimensions of innovative digital media technology. Through the NMI’s New Media Certificate Program, students of any major can develop new media expertise. Certificate courses are hands on and highly interactive, providing students a foundation of skills and knowledge that prepare them to respond to changes in technology throughout their careers. The NMI is located on the fourth floor of the Journalism Building with a great view of UGA’s historic North Campus.

MFA or Ph.D. in Mass Communication, Digital Media, or other closely aligned field

Additional Requirements

Experience and Competencies Required
  • Teaching background on the university-level in courses related to emerging media theory, trends, and technologies. Teaching and curriculum development background at both the undergraduate and graduate level is required, as is online teaching background.
  • Teaching and curriculum development background in digital media storytelling, user experience strategy, customer experience design, brand development and communication, digital product ideation, and web development including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WordPress.
  • Demonstrated excellence at managing a fast-paced, high demand graduate program with both residential and online offerings. Background with 4+1 programs and an understanding of graduate course scheduling, student advising, and student enrollment practices. Successful record of student recruitment efforts.
  • Previous leadership background supervising remote or part-time faculty.
  • Background leading industry engagement efforts both on and off campus.
  • Minimum 5 years of applicable experience.
  • Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed is required.
