Position Overview
The Instruction/Liaison Librarian oversees and implements the
library's information literacy activities, liaises with teaching
faculty in assigned subject areas to assess their needs and provide
solutions, provides reference service, conducts marketing and
outreach activities to students and faculty, and selects and
maintains library materials in assigned subject areas.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Library
Instruction:
Serve as the primary instruction librarian for face-to-face
on-campus and distance learning courses. This includes planning the
library's overall instruction strategy as well as promoting,
implementing and assessing library instruction activities.
Collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy
across the curriculum.
Provide one-on-one instruction to dual-enrolled faculty at area
high schools in the Lee College District.
Maintain current awareness of trends in information literacy
instruction, assessment and instructional technology.
Create and maintain effective library guides (LibGuides),
tutorials, videos, and other learning objects.
Liaison / Outreach Activities:
Regularly analyzes faculty information needs and use patterns
with the aim of optimizing faculty and students' library
experiences.
Actively promotes library services and collections to college
faculty & students.
Creates and executes library programming for college students
and faculty.
Collaborates with other college departments to promote
information literacy and a culture of reading on campus and to
increase student engagement.
Other Essential Duties:
Provides reference services to students, faculty and the
general public.
Selects and maintains library materials in assigned subject
areas.
Maintains current awareness of library and publishing trends,
technologies, and scholarship, including Open Educational Resources
(OER).
Seeks out and engages in professional development opportunities
which may include conference attendance, job-related coursework or
training, participation in professional organizations, and
professional reading.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
Participates in college and campus wide committees, working
groups, and task forces.
Participates in the collection, maintenance and creation of Lee
College history and local history materials.
Analyzes and recommends library products and services as
necessary.
Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills &
Abilities
Master's degree in Library Science or equivalent field from an
American Library Association accredited graduate program
At least 2 years librarian experience.
Knowledge of current trends in reference and instruction
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management and
oral & written communication skills.
Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
Knowledge of current library research practices and tools.
Knowledge of office productivity, desktop publishing, and
social media applications.
Familiarity with library ILS systems.
Special Requirements:
Flexibility to work at least 2 Saturdays a semester and
evenings during the week
Ability to travel within the Lee College service area.
