Scientific Officer (holding the functional title of Project Manager) in the School of Nursing



Applications are invited for appointment as Scientific Officer (holding the functional title of Project Manager) in the School of Nursing (Ref.: 522489), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis or one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Public Health, Nursing, Social Sciences, or a related discipline with at least eight years’ experience in community-based research, public health research or population sciences research. They should demonstrate evidence of high-quality research as indicated by publication record; excellent project management skills; excellent command of written and spoken communication skills; the ability to work independently and under pressure; a strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation; good coordination and problem solving skills.

The appointee will work for the Jockey Club SMART Family-Link Project under the supervision of Professor Kelvin Wang, with the aim of promoting family well-being by leveraging ICT for innovative family services. He/She is expected to coordinate research design; perform advanced level of data analysis (quantitative and qualitative); oversee data collection and management; liaise with community parties and institutions to plan, develop and conduct community-based interventions and training programmes for local social service practitioner and professionals; and work closely with academic and research support staff in writing scientific publications and reports. The appointee will take up a leading role to oversee the research team. He/She will also be responsible for developing interventions and training programmes to facilitate collection of big data; provide scientific and technical support to academic staff in the team; coordinate data analysis; and perform other duties as assigned.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed-term basis will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
