Woodbury University invites applications for a full-time one-year Visiting Professor (rank open) for the Psychology program within the School of Media : Culture : Design. The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual with a collaborative, student-centered focus, and will have strong teaching skills including the ability to teach both univariate and multivariate statistics, and be dedicated to advancing the Psychology program by ensuring, supporting, informing, and enriching students’ learning, intellectual development, critical thinking and communication skills. The successful candidate will teach a 24-credit load. Fall courses are set as Advanced Statistics w/SPSS, Advanced Research Methods (the first half of our senior capstone), and Personality.  Spring courses are flexible and will include a course in the successful candidate’s area of expertise. 

About the School of Media : Culture : Design

The school enrolls over 300 students encompassing seven undergraduate programs in the fields of animationfashion designfilmmakinggame art and designgraphic designmedia studies, and psychology. By bringing together these diverse fields, our programs provide innovative learning opportunities in an interdisciplinary environment. Students are encouraged to explore the areas between and around the disciplines as they develop their personal vision and professional paths.

Responsibilities

  • Report to school dean.
  • Maintain class records.
  • Assess student coursework.
  • Collaborate and support colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities.
  • Provide intellectual leadership and contributions to the field.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the particular diversity and equity related issues and needs in a candidate's field, or in higher education more generally. 

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Psychology is required. PhD in Psychology is preferred.
  • Minimum 1+ year teaching experience at an accredited 4-year college or university.
  • Ability (experience preferred) to teach advanced behavioral science statistics and research methods.
  • Proficiency in SPSS and ability to teach and use SPSS in the classroom.
  • Experience managing class rosters, attendance, timely grading of assignments.
  • Able to provide critical, informed, and creative feedback to students.

Compensation and Benefits

Faculty rank and salary are commensurate with teaching experience, professional background, and the degrees held; range is $65,480 to $85,126.

This position qualifies University sponsored employee benefit plans and programs (e.g., group health insurance, life insurance, tax deferred annuity plan, sick, and paid holidays), subject to the eligibility requirements and conditions of each plan and program.
