The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Denison University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biochemistry at the Assistant Professor level starting Fall 2024. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level and the capacity to develop a research program that recruits and engages undergraduates in publishable research. Teaching responsibilities will include introductory chemistry, biochemistry, and an advanced course in the candidate's field of expertise; all classes have a laboratory component. Denison Chemistry faculty teach a 2/1 course load. Individuals who identify as underrepresented in biochemistry and related disciplines are strongly encouraged to apply.
Denison University is an increasingly diverse, highly selective, and nationally ranked residential liberal arts college located in Granville, Ohio, 30 minutes east of the Columbus metropolitan area. The Columbus area offers numerous opportunities for dual-career families and collaborations (https://columbusregion.com/).
The college offers generous annual professional development funds, summer support for student and faculty research, a one-semester pre-tenure leave following a successful third year review, and a range of workshops and mentoring programs to develop our strengths as teacher-scholars. Faculty contributing to the life of their department, the institution, and the larger community is essential for Denison’s mission. We anticipate our new colleague will engage in service activities within these communities in a way that is congruent with their work as a teacher-scholar.
