The University of Indianapolis (UIndy or the University) seeks an entrepreneurial dean with proven leadership skills and the capacity to successfully implement bold, strategic decisions to lead its School of Business (the School). UIndy’s School of Business requires a decisive, engaged, and compassionate dean who is attentive to the School’s legacy and equal to its ambition, skilled at leveraging a close-knit community to guide the School into its next chapter.

Founded in 1983, UIndy’s School of Business is closely tied to its surrounding University Heights neighborhood and strives to serve both its campus community and the broader community of Indianapolis as an anchor institution. The new dean will join the UIndy community at an exciting time as it endeavors to enhance and develop graduate programs and innovative undergraduate curricula that give students a competitive advantage in the workplace. The dean will lead the charge to amplify the School’s reputation as a prominent educational institution that is grounded in its mission and commitment to applied learning.

Reporting to the provost and executive vice president, the dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer for the School of Business and is responsible for the management of its resources, including faculty and staff, physical facilities, and budget. The School of Business is home to 22 full-time faculty, many of whom bring years of significant industry experience. Their strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate students fuels their teaching, research, and service. The School of Business features six undergraduate academic areas (Accounting, Business Administration & Management, Finance, Information Systems & Applied Business Analytics, Marketing, and Operations & Supply Chain Management). Additionally, the School offers four graduate programs (MBA Programs, MS in Management, MS in Data Analytics, and an MS in Strategic Leadership and Design). Furthermore, in collaboration with the R.B. Annis School of Engineering, the School of Business presents undergraduate engineering students and engineering graduates with an opportunity to earn a certificate.

The next dean of the School of Business will inherit an energized, passionate community eager to build on its strong foundation and further define itself in Indianapolis, regionally, across the country, and globally. The ideal candidate will be a superb administrator and academic leader that draws on real-world industry knowledge, cognizant of the challenges confronting higher education and business schools more broadly, knowledgeable of the standards for AACSB accreditation, focused on interdisciplinarity with a vision for developing creative partnerships within the university that will lead to new and innovative programs for undergraduates and graduates alike, and capable of envisioning and actualizing opportunities for the School of Business, which strives to be a force of positive change for its students and the city. Among other qualities, the next dean will be a thought partner for enrollment and retention with an eye to expanding into new markets across the country and internationally, a gifted relationship builder who will engage with the community partners in Indianapolis and beyond, an effective fundraiser and fiscally astute.
