The University of Utah School of Dentistry is seeking an Associate Dean for Education and Student Life.  The individual appointed will also qualify for and be appointed to, or may already hold, a faculty position of associate or full professor in either the career or the tenure-line within the University of Utah. The appointee will, through their leadership contributions, ensure the continued excellence and ongoing evolution of the School’s programs in education curriculum, student life, and CODA accreditation; and will by supporting the ongoing excellence of the educational program, also ensure a robust didactic infrastructure and operation in support of ongoing and new research initiatives.    We seek an accomplished DDS or equivalent preferably with an advanced degree (masters or doctoral) in a field relevant to leadership in dental education, with experience and accomplishments in an academic setting. The ideal candidate will have the skills, capacities and interests to educate and train an exceptionally talented group of students in a university environment that thrives on high quality education, innovation and is committed to providing care to the underserved populations across the state of Utah.   Qualified individuals must support diversity and inclusion initiatives and foster a diverse, supportive and inclusive environment for faculty, students, staff and the communities we serve.   Now in its seventh year, the University of Utah School of Dentistry is the first new dental school within a research-intensive university health science center in the US in recent decades. An integral element of University of Utah Health, the School has an already robust and rapidly-growing clinical network at eight geographically dispersed sites throughout the State of Utah primarily focused on care for the under-served; strong research programs in several areas of distinction; and outstanding predoctoral dental and general practice residency programs.   Beyond our competitive salary, the University’s and School of Dentistry’s benefits program is tremendous, including: health care, prescription drug, behavioral health, dental, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement plans, supplemental retirement plans, retiree benefits, accidental death & dismemberment, disability, life insurances, long-term care, home and auto insurance, legal plans, military benefits, and large tuition benefits for you and family (see more details here:   The individual appointed as Associate Dean will have the rights and privileges of a faculty appointee at the University of Utah; will have a principal physical location at the Ray and Tye Noorda Oral Health Sciences Building on the University of Utah campus, and will spend up to 60% of the individual’s time providing oversight to the School’s student services and curriculum.  The Associate Dean will have the opportunity to continue to be engaged in patient care, in educational activity, and in research.  A requirement for appointment will be eligibility for a Utah dental license.    The Associate Dean will report directly to the Dean, and will serve in their administrative position with the approval and at the pleasure of the Dean and the Senior Vice President for Health Sciences, University of Utah.   Considered one of the best places to live in the world, Utah is home to the world’s best skiing, once in a lifetime hikes in Zion National Park, world-renowned stargazing in Bryce Canyon National Park, timeless reflection in Arches National Park, not to mention the magazine-worthy mountain biking trails in Moab.  If that is not enough, hit top speeds on Utah’s historic salt flats, or take a day trip to the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone National Park.
