SUMMARY:

Serves as a member of the CAPS leadership team, assisting the CAPS Director providing leadership and managerial oversight of the clinical functions of CAPS, and the development and implementation of policies and initiatives. Provides supervision to designated CAPS staff, and assumes responsibility for the clinical operations of CAPS in the Director's absence. Represents CAPS in both campus and community-wide meetings, programs and events. Provides mental health direct care, crisis intervention, crisis and clinical consultation and coordination, supervision, training and outreach services at CAPS.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of the CAPS staff team
  • Demonstrated multicultural competencies
  • Ability to form effective working relationships with individuals across lines of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, and sexual orientation
  • Professional knowledge of adult and college student mental health issues
  • Professional knowledge of mental health assessment
  • Professional knowledge of suicide assessment, crisis assessment, crisis management, and referral
  • Professional knowledge of clinical supervision
  • Knowledge of multicultural issues
  • Knowledge of college student development issues
  • Ability to read and complete clinical notes and records using the computerized Titanium record-keeping system
  • Ability to learn and use the computerized Titanium scheduling system for scheduling appointments, meetings, and other activities
  • Some level of proficiency or previous experience using MS Office products, especially Word and Excel.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or closely related field required
  • Current license as a mental health professional in the State of Virginia required
  • Maintains licensure through continuing professional education
  • Minimum of 5 years experience providing mental health services to young adults (18-25 years old) required; 8 or more years preferred

Preferred experiences include any of the following:

  • Two or more years experience providing mental health services at a College or University Counseling Center
  • Previous experience using the Titanium scheduling and record-keeping system
  • Two or more years of administrative and/or supervisory experience in a clinical setting
  • Experience in responding to mental health crises
  • Familiarity with Richmond-area psychiatric hospitals and community service board crisis response resources
  • Interest and experience working with underrepresented populations

WORK HOURS:

  • Full-time, exempt position
  • This is an 11-month position - July-May (no June)
  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week with evenings/weekends as needed for on-call rotation

SALARY STRUCTURE: Pay Grade 9 (Hiring Range $73,008.00 to $100,402.00 annually)
