Position Summary
Information Resources & Technology (IRT) provides essential information technology services for campus operations and innovative technology solutions to facilitate the accomplishment of strategic campus goals. The position reports to the Director of Customer Services and Experience, and plays an integral role in providing easily accessible technical service delivery to the university. The IRT Customer Service Consultant works as a member of the IRT Service Desk team, with a focus on the quality and thoughtfulness of the customer experience. The incumbent is selectively cross trained to ensure continuity of service to the campus user community with a focus on faculty, staff, and student assistance. This position is responsible for delivering information and support for IRT services in multiple modalities. The incumbent works within the Service Desk to develop support materials relating to new or updated IRT provided applications and services. IRT actively engages our campus community to deliver high-quality services and innovative solutions that meet current and future technology needs. The IRT team is committed to communicating clearly, operating transparently, and taking a data-driven approach to continuous improvement. Note: All IRT employees should be familiar with the mission of the University, the University Strategic Plan, and the campus information technology strategic plan.
FLSA: Exempt

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,372 - $10,792 per month

Hiring Range: $4,372 - $7,000 per month

Salary Grade/Range: 2

Time Base: Full-Time

Pay Plan: 12 months

Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm; other hours as required.

Minimum Qualifications

To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technical information systems and application program packages is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Information Technology Consultant, depending on the nature of the position assignment, may include working knowledge of common software application packages, equipment platforms, reference database systems and sources, and training methods and a basic understanding of networks, data communication, and multimedia systems.

Required Qualifications
Education/Experience: 1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, or equivalent experience. 2. Demonstrated experience and commitment to providing excellent service to diverse faculty, staff, and students. 3. Demonstrated experience taking complex information or research and presenting it in a structured, user-centered fashion. 4. Demonstrated experience with effectively completing assignments, prioritizing based on strategic goals, and meeting deadlines. 5. Experience assessing user needs and providing appropriate support. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: 6. Demonstrated problem solving skills. 7. Excellent writing and communication skills. Conditions of Employment - Ability to pass background check
Preferred Qualifications
8. Two years experience working in a communications or customer service capacity. 9. Experience in supporting people in a technology rich environment. 10. Experience with agile project management principles. 11. Knowledge of the principles of human-centered design. 12. Knowledge of best practices in writing content and developing materials for the web.
