Position Summary:
Job SummaryThe Head Strength & Conditioning Coach reports to the Assistant Director of Athletics. The primary task is to develop, implement and monitor weight training and conditioning for 23 varsity sports in concert with the academic mission of the university. Specific Responsibilities
  • Supervise the Vialonga Performance Center, Clyde's Fitness Center and S&C Staff.
  • Hire, train and supervise student workers who can assist both in the Jacobs Fitness Center and the free weight area.
  • Coordinate with the head coaches to develop year-round training programs that are specific to the varsity sports.
  • Provide athletes training on proper technique in all strength and conditioning activities.
  • Coordinate team and group workouts, utilizing the S & C staff.
  • Develop a record-keeping system and track the individual progress of student-athletes.
  • Assess data of the training program for each sport.
  • Perform routine maintenance of strength and fitness equipment; report needed repairs to the Associate Director of Athletics.
  • Maintain an orderly and safe environment on all levels of the Fitness Center.
  • Become knowledgeable and abide by all NCAA rules/regulations.

    Required Qualifications:
    Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesEvidence of the knowledge and ability to train athletes on proper technique in all strength and conditioning activities and to design and implement sport-specific training programs (in-season and out-of-season). Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be skilled in monitoring the progress of athletes and assessing the training programs. Must be able to maintain an orderly and safe environment in both the Vialonga Performance Center and Jacobs Fitness Center. Must possess the ability to work effectively with others; effectively supervise and mentor staff (including students); delegate responsibilities as appropriate. EducationBachelor’s Degree is required. NSCA certification required. Experience Two years of experience working in a collegiate strength & conditioning program is required. Physical Demand Must be able to manipulate a variety of strength training and related equipment, must have the energy and enthusiasm and mobility to actively coach strength and conditioning activities.
