Director of Human Resources

Description of Duties
SUNY Canton seeks a Director of Human Resources for the college.
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for all aspects of
the Human Resources function including contract administration,
recruitment, immigration processing, employee relations, benefit
administration, payroll, performance management, policy compliance,
and managing a department budget.
The Director will foster close cooperation and interactions with
internal and external liaisons, including but not limited to,
campus leaders, SUNY System Administration personnel, Research
Foundation personnel, and colleagues from other institutions.
- A Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years Human Resources experience,
including: supervision of staff, handling of union
contracts/grievances, and administering employee discipline are
- A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Experience with New York State Civil Service is preferred.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership,
creativity, enthusiasm, and the ability to work effectively with
all constituencies both on and off the campus.
Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will
be required to submit to a background check including, but not
limited to, employment verification, educational and other
credential verification, and criminal background check.
