Job Details
The Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning department at Middlesex College invites applications for part-time, non-credit instructors to teach Electrical Mechanical and Troubleshooting for its Advanced Manufacturing Program during the 2023-2024 Academic Year.
Some primary responsibilities of this role include:
- Using analog and digital multimeter to measure resistance, current, voltage and other relevant parameters
- Interpreting electrical wiring diagrams, troubleshooting schematic diagrams, layout diagrams, and ladder diagrams
- Assembling and debugging complete circuits following written instructions and various technical diagrams
It is crucial that the instructor understand the operation, typical malfunctions, and proper testing and safety procedures required when:
- Testing electronic, electric, photonic, magnetic, and pneumatic components such as fuses, capacitors, switches, relays, transformers, solenoids, solenoid valves, DC motors, and AC motors
- Troubleshooting linear and switching power supplies; DC drives and Variable Frequency Drives; motor control circuits for stop, pause, reverse functions; essential digital circuits for other relevant functions; essential pneumatic systems; gear boxes and other related mechanical systems; and systems using various types of sensors, such as magnetic, capacitive, optical, pressure, temperature, and motion
- Five years of hands-on field experience installing, repairing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and performing routine maintenance on electronic, electric, and/or electro-mechanical machines
- Five years of experience training adults in a professional or industry environment.
- Must have the basic tools, test equipment, parts, and other related hardware needed to conduct the course on-site and/or online
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
