UNO is Nebraska's public metropolitan research university - a
university with strong academic values, diverse programs and
learning opportunities, and significant relationships with our
community that facilitate engaged teaching and research.
Research Associate, Physics
The Department of Physics invites applications for a postdoctoral
Research Associate at University of Nebraska at Omaha. The grant
titled “A High-Throughput Computational and Experimental Approach
to the Design of Unconventional Magnets” supports the
The Research Associate will be responsible for computational
discovery of stable materials using DFT -based simulations with the
purpose to identify the stable magnetic ground state in a
high-throughput context, determining its prominent magnetic figures
of merit at T = 0 K and then studying finite temperature
transformation of these properties to define its strength at room
temperature and above.
The initial appointment will be for one year, with a preferred
start date of September 2023. Extensions of up to two years may be
available. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position.
A Ph.D. in Physics/Chemistry (or a related field) at the time of
application is required.
The successful candidate must demonstrate prior evidence of
relevant expertise, and/or an outstanding research record of
accomplishment in search of novel materials based on first
principle methods. Working knowledge of Machine Learning and
integrated research platforms is a plus.
