Essential Functions
The Department of Physics invites applications for a postdoctoral Research Associate at University of Nebraska at Omaha. The grant titled “A High-Throughput Computational and Experimental Approach to the Design of Unconventional Magnets” supports the position.
The Research Associate will be responsible for computational discovery of stable materials using DFT -based simulations with the purpose to identify the stable magnetic ground state in a high-throughput context, determining its prominent magnetic figures of merit at T = 0 K and then studying finite temperature transformation of these properties to define its strength at room temperature and above.
The initial appointment will be for one year, with a preferred start date of September 2023. Extensions of up to two years may be available. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position.

Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Physics/Chemistry (or a related field) at the time of application is required.
The successful candidate must demonstrate prior evidence of relevant expertise, and/or an outstanding research record of accomplishment in search of novel materials based on first principle methods. Working knowledge of Machine Learning and integrated research platforms is a plus.
