Essential Functions

The Department of Physics invites applications for a postdoctoral Research Associate at University of Nebraska at Omaha. The grant titled “A High-Throughput Computational and Experimental Approach to the Design of Unconventional Magnets” supports the position.

The Research Associate will be responsible for conducting a comprehensive analysis of the crystal structure and vibrational spectra of novel synthesized materials. This will involve employing various techniques and instruments to investigate and characterize the physical and chemical properties of the materials. Additionally, the Research Associate will be involved in developing in-situ Raman capabilities to enhance the understanding of synthesis.

The initial appointment will be for one year, with a preferred start date of September 2023. A one-year extension may be available. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position.

Required Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Physics/Chemistry (or a related field) at the time of application is required.

The successful candidate must demonstrate prior strong evidence of relevant expertise and an exceptional research track record in the synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials, with a specific focus on magnetic and plasmonic properties.
