The Program in Cognitive Science at Dartmouth College seeks a part-time lecturer to teach two or three undergraduate classes in Fall/Winter/Spring quarters of the 2024-2025 academic year. Possible course offerings include a general course in Philosophy of Cognitive science, a methods course in Cognitive Science, or a topical course in some area of cognitive science. The position includes an advising component. The Program in Cognitive Science ( cognitive-science.dartmouth.edu ) offers abundant collegial interaction among faculty across multiple departments and schools. Dartmouth is on a 10-week term system with four terms per year (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer). This position is either a part-time pro-rated benefits-eligible position (if teaching spans 3 terms) or a part-time non-benefits-eligible position (if teaching spans 2 terms). The initial appointment is for the 2024-25 academic year, with possibility of renewal. Expected start date is either September 1, 2024 or January 1, 2025.

Qualifications

PhD or ABD in Cognitive Science, Philosophy, Computer Science, or a closely related field.

  3. Teaching statment, describing prior experiences, description of one topical or methods course that you would be prepared to teach, and conceptual approaches particularly as they relate to inclusion in the classroom;
  4. Syllabi of previous courses taught (as primary instructor or as teaching assistant)
