The Assistant Director of Development reports directly to
the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and will be
responsible for cultivation and solicitation of major gifts
benefiting DSU. The successful candidate will focus primarily on
raising funds as part of the Trojans Unite Campaign.
Responsibilities:
1. Understand and drive the mission to build and expand the culture
of philanthropy.
2. Develop and execute an annual plan for the cultivation and
solicitation of prospects.
3. Research and identify major gift prospects to grow the donor
base.
4. Represent DSU at area events, boards, and committees within DSU,
the community, and the industry.
5. Plan and implement fundraising events.
6. Engage in stewardship and recognition processes.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. A bachelor’s degree.
2. One to three years of experience in fundraising is
required.
3. A valid driver’s license.
4. Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed to
represent DSU at various events.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Exceptional ability to build relationships with internal and
external constituents.
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
3. Strong attention to detail.
4. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management
skills.
5. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a
team.
6. Knowledge of philanthropy and fundraising
principles.
7. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
8. Developed problems solving skills.
9. Demonstrate a high degree of initiative.
10. Strong public speaking and motivational skills.
11. Proven ability to meet and exceed goals.
