General summary/purpose:

Sr. Financial Analyst is part of the Global Program Finance Team working closely with Programs, Contracts, and Jhpiego’s Country offices to ensure accurate accounting and financial information is collected and analyzed to be used as data for decision making. The Sr. Financial Analyst will provide financial support to the HQ and Field finance teams in accumulating, tracking and reporting of costs posted in country QBE files. Sr. Financial Analyst ensures financial systems and reports are compatible with standard Jhpiego accounting practices and follow donor rules and regulations.

Specific duties & responsibilities:

  • Actively work with all levels of management to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare financial plans, budgets, cash flow projections, pipeline analyses, and operating forecasts
  • Review assigned countries on a monthly basis, assessing cash burn rates, funding requirements, sub-grant payments, and other contract/financial commitments
  • Monitor actual expenditure levels, accruals, and projections against budgets and funding obligations to support accuracy in financial management
  • Perform regular analysis of quarterly cash forecast and make recommendations on needed changes in Imprest fund balances
  • Use various software applications, such as SAP, QBE, and Power BI to assemble, present data and/or reports
  • Review accuracy of ION and GL used in QBE
  • Ensure budget distribution in SAP
  • Support the QBE due diligence process by working with the country office to address any issues, weaknesses and resolve any actions
  • Monitor sub-grantees financial expenses and payments to subs
  • Monitor budget to actual expenditures, AR Aging, Balance Sheet accounts, P/L by Class and Exchange Rates in QBE
  • Monitor Payroll and fringe accounts in QBE and perform reconciliations

Minimum qualifications (mandatory):

  • BA in Finance, Accounting, Business, or equivalent experience
  • Five years progressively responsible related financial/accounting experience.
  • Additional education (Master's in a related field) may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
  • Basic knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, FAR, and 2CFR200: Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards
  • Experience performing financial/bank reconciliations
  • Experience with sub-contract and sub-award financial management
  • In depth knowledge financial software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and/or word processing required. Packages include: Microsoft Outlook, Access, Excel and Word
  • Experience in Accounting software, including SAP and QuickBooks Enterprise preferred
  • Effective communicator
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others who represent a wide range of interests and needs

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
