Essential Functions

The Department of Counseling at the University of Nebraska at Omaha is seeking an instructor to join a growing and energetic Counseling Department team for the 2023-2024 academic year with anticipated funding for position continue into a tenure track position. The successful candidate will provide culturally sensitive instruction in the CACREP -accredited core and Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialization areas and/or School Counseling specialization, and provide service to the department, college of education, university, community, and profession. The development and maintenance of positive relationships and partnerships with community-based mental and behavioral health organizations and/or school district, Nebraska Department of Education is expected. Additional Duties

Duties include teaching courses in the clinical mental health and/or school counseling specialization areas; collaborating with schools; community-based mental health organizations, service activities at the program, department, college, university, and professional levels.

Required Qualifications

A Master’s degree in a counseling related field and an in progress doctorate in Counselor Education or closely related field with CACREP core faculty eligibility.

Successful candidate must have content and working knowledge of CACREP standards; evidence of effective teaching and supervision; and evidence of professional service.

Preferred Qualifications

ABD or an earned doctorate in Counselor Education or closely related field with CACREP core faculty eligibility.

Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience as a licensed professional counselor/mental health professional/school counselor; proven ability to teach in a CACREP accredited core and clinical mental health counseling and/or school counseling specialization area; a minimum of 2 years of experience as a licensed counselor/school counselor; and evidence of professional service including clinical supervision.
