Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following disciplines are encouraged to apply: pathophysiology, pharmacology, epidemiology, human nutrition, health behavior or clinical applications of preventive health. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a productive line of research; publish in highly-ranked, peer-reviewed journals in their discipline; pursue and secure external funding to support their research program; teach undergraduate and future graduate courses; mentor students in research; participate in internal and external professional service activities; and demonstrate collegiality in all aspects of faculty engagement. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

The Department of Health Sciences is the second largest department at UCF with ~3900 undergraduate students in the major and about 400 students in the minor. Strategic emphasis within the Department of Health Sciences focuses on clinical, pathophysiological, and behavioral understanding of human health.  Preferences:

Candidates who demonstrate or show clear potential for developing a viable, focused research program with a high probability of securing extramural funding and forming strong collaborations within and/or external to the department will be given preference. Other preferences include experience teaching academic courses to undergraduate/graduate students as the instructor of record in an academic program at an institution of higher education; evidence of effectiveness of teaching and instructional innovation in a large and diverse academic program within a university setting; and evidence of effective student mentoring, including mentoring teaching assistants and undergraduate/graduate student theses.
