Job Summary:
Prepare laboratory chemicals and experiments for all science labs.
Essential Functions:
Include but not limited to the following:
Biology and Chemistry
- Knowledge of science laboratory procedures, concepts, and equipment used in laboratories.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of chemicals and materials for instructional purposes, researching and ordering supplies as needed.
- Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local waste regulations, right-to-know, and other safety regulations and procedures through training.
- Maintain hazardous waste inventory for all sciences and perform waste determinations to identify hazard category of all chemical wastes assuring proper disposal according to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Support instructors in the development and evaluation of instructional materials and approaches, and assist in revising instructional techniques.
- Ability to recognize both living and prepared specimens of bacteria, protozoa, fungi, plants and animals, or ability to identify chemical classes and reagents in order to provide correct materials for laboratory instruction.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Physics
- Organizing equipment storage.
- Filing and copying of laboratory material(s).
- Preparing the equipment needed for the laboratory.
- Restoring and checking the function of the lab equipment after labs have been completed.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Biology and Chemistry
- Associate’s degree in science, engineering or a related field.
OR
- One (1) year full time directly related work experience (preferred in a lab setting).
Physics
- High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- No background in physics is necessary.
Compensation
$15.00 per hour
