Job Summary:

This pool has been established to accept applications for possible openings for part-time instructors that may arise throughout the year.

The Family Connections Child Care Provider instructor provides education on topics that assist people employed in the field of childhood care and education to improve outcomes for children, meet state requirements for child care provider licensing and/or enhance professional development.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Human Development, Family Studies, Counseling, Education or related field.

Must be able to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching adults.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Visual acuity, arm, hand and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination. Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to carry on routine conversations.

Work is performed in a classroom or office setting with minimal exposure to health and safety hazards.

Essential Duties:

Have a working knowledge of the philosophy, goals and values of the Family Connections child care provider training program.

Participate in the professional development activities provided by the Family Connections Department.

Prepare for each class session with a focus on appropriate learner outcomes and developmentally appropriate practices in the field of childhood care and education.

Complete or facilitate the completion of appropriate paperwork and records such as registration forms, class agendas and handouts, course outlines, and evaluations.

Maintain responsibility for confidentiality of participants.

Provide high quality instruction on topics that are identified in one or more of the eight Core Knowledge categories as defined by Oregon’s Center for Career Development.
