Position Summary:

The Wisconsin 4-H Associate Program Director is a leader for a statewide team of youth development professionals who develop youth membership programs reaching over 25,000 youth and support nearly 9,000 volunteers. The Wisconsin 4-H Program Associate Director will oversee development of statewide program resources and manage systems needed for locally-based colleagues and partners to advance program quality and develop program models that expand access and reach. The person in this position will supervise a state staff team that assures consistent management and operational support for local and state-level programs. The 4-H Program Associate Director will also lead a team of educational program specialists and link to other Extension programmatic resources to provide responsive learning resources and educational programs to meet the needs of diverse Wisconsin youth. And the person in this position will maintain and grow relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to secure programmatic resources and build the 4-H brand.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Required: Master's or other graduate degree with academic preparation in a field that relates to the responsibilities of this position such as education, youth development, human ecology, social work, non-profit management, etc.

Preferred: Doctorate or terminal degree in a discipline relevant to the focus of the Institute for Positive Youth Development.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required:
1. 5 or more years of professional experience in leading and managing youth development or education programs, including planning and implementing programs, evaluation, and communicating program impact and value to stakeholders
2. Two years or more of supervisory experience.
3. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
4. Experience managing budgets
5. Established track-record of building partnerships with diverse groups.
6. Demonstrated experience effectively interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, gender, disability, sexual orientation and other aspects of human diversity

Preferred:
1. Experience implementing policy and practices consistent with youth development, youth protection, and volunteer management principles.
2. Proven ability to successfully introduce new initiatives and other changes to a broad range of stakeholders.
3. Proven success as a team leader in a collaborative environment.
4.. Experience developing organizational partnerships and managing organizational relationships
5. Successful experience obtaining funding through grants, contracts, gifts, and/or revenue generation
6. Established record of contribution to the youth development field through scholarship, program development, or other leadership roles.
7. Track record of expanding access to programs and resources, particularly for underserved
populations.
8. Experience working in or engaging with Land Grant Institutions and Extension Programs

Additional Information:

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Assume multiple travel days per week throughout geographies served and occasional travel within the state.
2. Make individual arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions.
3. Work evenings or weekends as needed to meet position needs.

The primary location of this position is negotiable with an expectation of some negotiated office hours in Madison.
