Position Summary:

The Sustaining Scandinavian Folk Arts in the Upper Midwest Project (SSFAUM) is sponsored by a non-federal grant aimed at supporting Scandinavian folklife traditions in the region through teaching, training emerging professionals in the field, research, outreach, building archival collections, creating public productions, and more. Based at the Center for the Study of Upper Midwestern Cultures (CSUMC), this project involves active team members and partners across and off campus in a variety of activities aimed at supporting and providing resources for artists, scholars, community partners, and students in the field.

This two-year, potentially renewable position will be in support of SSFAUM's various activities. The research administrator working on this project would work with our team of PIs in support of the grant-cycle activities, from award management through award closeout. Award management will include, but not be limited to, working between departments to ensure proper cost sharing, cost transfers, and cost allocations; monitoring proper salary allocations and effort reporting; creating and maintaining supporting documentation; and providing oversight for terms and requirements. In addition, the research administrator will be responsible for managing reporting (including budget reports), budget oversight, and any proposed amendments to ensure proper compliance with both UW Madison and sponsor policies and procedures. The research administrator will also work with Research and Sponsored Programs, the various departments and departmental administrators involved with the grant, and the PIs to ensure the proper appropriation of funds at the end of the grant's term while also preparing financial reports and end-of-grant compliance documents.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

BA or BS required. Master's Degree desirable
The following is required:
Proven administrative experience
Familiarity in grants administration
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with Excel, Word, and database management tools, and the ability to develop complex spreadsheets and database reports.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Well qualified candidates will have the following work experience:
- Proposal preparation and electronic submission process experience.
- Two or more years of administration experience required, preferably research administration at the University of Wisconsin-Madison or alternatively, five or more years of experience in administration with significant knowledge of effort and salary funding and/or post-award management.
-Familiarity with UW research administration policies, procedures, and systems; understanding of funding agency requirements, processes, and systems.
-Demonstrated history of initiative, flexibility, and personal accountability.
-Ability to work closely with investigators to plan for and meet strict deadlines while being able to incorporate new challenges.

Additional Information:

This position requires a significant degree of organization, a proven track record of effectively managing periods of high work volume and interactions with faculty, staff, students, administrative departments, Deans, community partners, and non-federal research sponsors. As a result, this position requires excellent interpersonal skills

This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding.
