General Statement of Job

The individual hired for this position will be a research assistant on a grant funded project that studies food insecurity and SNAP Knowledge in College students.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

The percent of time spent in each activity will vary depending on the phase of the study (i.e., start-up, initial phase of recruitment, data collection, and study wrap-up) and with other study events (eg., regular team meetings, taking notes during focus groups, dissemination of study findings).

Creating and maintaining a system to track subject accrual and progress through the study, particularly in regards to participant incentives.

Assuring study fidelity which includes communication with study sites and subjects.

Assuring data integrity which includes developing and implementing a plan to enhance the completeness and accuracy of study data.

Assisting with developing and refining all study forms for data collection.

Providing reports at all project team meetings.

Contacting potential study patients, screening for inclusion criteria, and obtaining subject consent.

Becoming familiar with the Qualtrics data collection system.

Alerting the study team to trends requiring systematic investigation.

Disseminating participant incentives.

Assisting with dissemination of study findings.

Reporting protocol or management of study data deviations to the study team.

Assisting the study team members in making management and administrative decisions.

Assisting in data collection (surveys and focus groups), including recruitment of universities and participants.

Education, Experience, and Licenses

High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree, or currently working towards one (nutrition, public health, or dietetics, social work, sociology) preferred

Experience with SNAP, preferred

Research experience, preferred

  • Ability to monitor study data and identify trends and data that require review.
  • Ability to take notes during focus groups.
  • Ability to organize and maintain research records.
  • Must have outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess superior organizational skills.
  • Must work efficiently and independently.
