POSITION: Assistant Professor, Doctor of Social Science Prevention Science Program (FT)
Effective immediately: (FT) Assistant Professor,
Doctor of Social Science in Prevention Science (PSC) Program, New
Castle, Delaware - Wilmington University.
Requirements: The incumbent must have an earned doctorate. A Doctoral Degree in Public Health, Psychology, Family Science, Sociology, Prevention Science, or closely related field is preferred. The incumbent will have a sufficient amount of relevant prevention experience (3-5 years) to perform the essential functions of the job. Online program instruction is required and experience in teaching both synchronous and asynchronous courses online is preferred. Experience in teaching and supervising students in higher education is desired. The incumbent must have excellent communication, student (customer) service and organizational skills.
Incumbent must be detail oriented and able to work with a diverse population. Must be self-directed and able to make decisions independently. The incumbent must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office products, preferably with a working knowledge of Canvas and Banner. The incumbent must maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Must be committed to teaching and providing a student-centered focus and learning atmosphere. Must maintain an effective working relationship with all employees. The ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in any situation is a must.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Teach a contract course load or equivalent per year.
- Serve as a full-time faculty member to teach and provide appropriate support for the Doctor of Social Science in Prevention Science Program, reinforcing academic excellence.
- Assist the PSC Chair with program support (advising students, assisting with the cohort selection process, special events, and program needs).
- Advise and assist students as necessary with scheduling, new cohort orientation, and handle student issues or complaints in accordance to University policy.
- Attend College and University functions (staff meetings, Faculty Senate, etc.) as required.
- Complete and report on outcomes assessment data and other college reports, as assigned.
- Duties further involve serving on Dissertation Committees, Advising, Coordinating the Student Cohort Admissions/Selection and Dissertation Processes.
Hours of Employment: The incumbent must be
flexible enough with his/her hours and schedule to meet the needs
of the college, the department and/or the university. Travel will
be required.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.
