SUPERVISION: Reports to the Director of Client Services


Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

  1. Install, configure, troubleshoot, repair and replace hardware and install software for computers.
  2. Assist in image deployment.
  3. Provide support for Help Desk as needed.
  4. Work closely with other staff in the Office of Information Technology Services as part of a larger support effort for assistance to faculty and staff.
  5. Assist in inventory and disposal of hardware projects as needed.
  6. Assist the Audiovisual Equipment Tech with A/V related work, and act as back-up for this position as needed.
  7. Provide Tier 2 support, technical assistance, and advice to clients and other users.
  8. Field telephone calls and email messages from clients who are seeking guidance on technical problems.
  9. Assess users' issues and map out solutions to resolve those issues.
  10. Provide ongoing training for instructors and Help Desk staff in the use of computer software and hardware.
  11. Log and update tickets in our Help Desk software.
  12. Attend training courses as needed to maintain technical skills.
  13. Assist/support other members of the ITS Department with their projects and responsibilities.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.



Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associate Degree and/or Technical School Certification.
  2. Excellent hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
  3. Proficiency with latest Windows operating systems.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Ability to train, schedule, and motivate others.
  2. Knowledge of desktop computer repair problems.
  3. Experience troubleshooting local area networks.
  4. Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with people with all levels of information technology expertise in all employment classifications and organizational levels.

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION : Weekly salary: $899.81. AFSCME Grade 16 Step 1. Candidate may qualify for placement above entry level if currently employed in the State System. Includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program.
