Job Summary

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at the University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for a research scientist position in the area of stars, exoplanets, and disks. The successful candidate would work with Dr. Kevin France, a professor in LASP and the Department of Astrophysical & Planetary Sciences (APS), on observation, analysis, and modeling star/planet/disks systems using data from the Hubble Space Telescope and other facilities. Dr. France’s research group (CUSP: https://lasp.colorado.edu/home/cusp/) has active observational programs (with Hubble, Chandra, XMM, and ground-based facilities) in the areas of exoplanetary atmospheres, the properties of star planet systems, and the composition/structure/evolution of protoplanetary disks. CUSP is also developing the NASA-funded CUTE mission, a CubeSat to study mass-loss in extreme exoplanetary systems, and the ESCAPE Small Explorer Mission to study EUV radiation and CMEs from nearby stars. LASP offers a diverse set of resources for teaching and research, including access to observational, instrumental, and theoretical facilities. CU is a member of the ARC 3.5-meter telescope and the SDSS V Survey at Apache Point Observatory. LASP is the PI institution of numerous space missions for heliophysics, planetary science, and astrophysics; the candidate would have access to excellent facilities for the development of space-borne and ground-based hardware, if applicable. Applications from a range of career stages are encouraged; CUSP welcomes researchers interested in contributing to the scientific direction, vibrancy, and climate of the group.
