Adjunct, Graduate Program in Administration of Justice and Homeland Security



The Graduate Program in Administration of Justice and Homeland security is creating a pool of eligible adjunct faculty for graduate teaching assignments online and on our campus in Newport, Rhode Island. Courses include Theories of Justice, Constitutional Law, and others in the broad disciplines of Criminal Justice, Cybersecurity, Leadership and Intelligence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Adjunct faculty are expected to:
  • Prepare and instruct classes assigned by the Graduate program director
  • Use Canvas as the online classroom for interacting with students
  • Read, comment on, grade and return student assignments, examinations, reports, etc. in a timely manner
  • Provide a course syllabus at the start of the semester to students and the Graduate program director
  • Use the Salve learning management system (Canvas) to disseminate syllabus, course material and grades to students
  • Be available on a regular basis to meet with students (office hours)
  • Use Salve email to send and receive official email correspondence
  • Work collaboratively with other instructors and the Graduate Program Director
  • Hold class meetings online (Zoom) or in person on our campus in Newport, RI, depending on the format of the class assigned

Requirements:
  • Minimum requirement is a Master's degree in criminal justice, public administration, management, business, or a related discipline, along with professional and/or teaching experience.
  • Candidates should have an ability to communicate effectively, to use technology and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) effectively in teaching and learning, and to work collaboratively with other members of the department.
