Hofstra University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is pleased to invite applications for two full-time Special Professor faculty positions (instructor or assistant/associate/full professor) in the Department of Biology, with one position to teach introductory biology lecture and laboratory courses (Biol 111, Biol 112, and Biol 113) and one position to teach both introductory biology and possibly mid-level courses including genetics or cell biology for the 2023-2024 academic year.
The new faculty members will collaborate with other instructors in reviewing, improving, and maintaining the curriculum for these courses and must be available for weekly instructors’ meetings. They must provide one office hour per week for every three contact hours assigned and be available for students. Teaching load is a minimum of 9 contact hours per semester; maximum enrollment for a lab section is approximately 20 students and approximately 40 students per lecture section. Both positions are full-time positions within the Department and not adjunct positions.
Preferred candidates will have a broad background in biology and considerable experience teaching introductory biology lecture and laboratory courses to majors. Priority for one position will be given to those with experience teaching mid- or upper-level genetics and cell biology courses.
