Samford University’s School of Health Professions invites applicants interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology.  This tenure-track faculty position is a 9-month appointment and will begin in August 2023. The major responsibilities of position are to teach undergraduate didactic courses and engage in scholarship and service. Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: assisting with program assessment, accreditation standards and reports, curriculum development and assessment, and student mentoring.   

Qualified candidates will hold either doctoral degree in exercise science or related field; or be a highly qualified candidate with ABD who will have their doctoral degree in hand by December 31, 2023; or an earned clinical doctoral degree in physical therapy, occupational therapy or related field. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in motor behavior and experience with kinesiology or related research activity. For those with a clinical doctorate, preference is given to those with at least 3 years clinical experience. A commitment to academic excellence and the ability to work and communicate effectively with faculty, students and colleagues are expected.  

The College of Health Sciences includes four schools: School of Health Professions, Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing, McWhorter School of Pharmacy, and School of Public Health. The College offers multiple degree programs and majors within the health sciences with an inter-professional education focus that reflects today’s team approach to health care delivery and professional practice.
