Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Director of the Office of e-Campus Learning, Instructional Design Center (IDC) collaborates with the Executive Director of e-Campus to manage and coordinate all instructional development and design activities for the Office. The Director will manage the course development process, faculty and facilitator training initiatives, and the facilitation of best practices in course instructional strategies for EKU's online courses. The Director will lead a team that seeks to provide optimal and timely services to EKU's administration, faculty, and students. The position will support the financial stability of the university, supervise IDC staff, and work to grow and efficiently operate EKU Online programs.
The Director works with a group of instructional designers (IDs), a training manager, a multimedia producer, and an administrative coordinator responsible for supporting and training faculty who teach online. The incumbent works with the IDs to support and encourage mastery of the learning management system environment. This includes integrating course design and research-based technologies such as interactives, videos, and other multimedia content. The Director ensures strong student services support and ensures that there are superb quality assurance procedures in place. The position supports faculty content development by encouraging the use of instructional strategies that facilitate student learning.
The Director supports faculty and academic departments with leadership and project management associated with new course development including maintenance, course revisions, implementation, and guiding IDs in learning, disseminating, and implementation of new technologies. The Director is responsible for leading and working collaboratively with a team of academic program coordinators, instructional designers, and other stakeholders to ensure courses meet EKUs qualitative expectations (e.g., requirements that e-Campus courses meet Quality Matters standards). The Director will work with university stakeholders to ensure that quality online courses define the EKU Online experience and work to build a shared sense of ownership of EKUs course development guidelines and quality related to curriculum and instruction.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Master's degree (Ph.D. strongly preferred) in instructional design, instructional technology, or related field
Experience:
- Five to seven years of related work experience in instructional
design, instructional leadership, and/or curriculum and
instruction, preferably in postsecondary instruction
- Prefer experience in Higher Education, management and
administration, distance education, or e-Learning related
field.

- 25% - Provides daily operational management and administration for all aspects of the Instructional Development Center (IDC) - (Essential)

- 15% - Working closely with the professional development manager to determine the needs for faculty development, facilitator, and IDC professional development programs in online and face-to-face formats, the delivery of training classes, and the assessment of training outcomes - (Essential)
- 10% - Manages assigned staff in accordance with EKU policies, and applicable laws and regulations - (Essential)
- 10% - Supervises the implementation of EKU's Quality Matters standards processes and procedures - (Essential)
- 10% - Analyzes data, creates reports, and tracks IDC performance - (Essential)
