Job Summary

The College of Lake County ( CLC ) is seeking a Assistant Vice President of Education to work in collaboration with Vice President of Education to fulfill the instructional mission and goals of the college, and to support excellence in teaching and learning that leads to student success. The Assistant Vice President of Education provides strategic and operational leadership and directs initiatives for Educational Affairs including academic program evaluation processes, curriculum development, college wide learning assessment, and academic dishonesty. The Assistant Vice President of Education is responsible for budget oversight, grant management, implementation of faculty collective bargaining agreements, and resolving instructional facilities issues.

Required Qualification

Master’s degree.
Minimum of ten (10) years in a higher educational setting.
Minimum of ten (10) years supervisory experience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Curriculum and program development experience.
Program evaluation and assessment experience.
Ability to manage cross-functional projects and initiatives.
Budget management experience.
Demonstrated commitment to student success.
Demonstrated collaboration and negotiation skills.
Experience with Federal and State laws that impact higher education.

Desired Qualifications

Doctoral degree in relevant subject area (e.g. higher education administration, academic affairs, student development, social sciences) from an accredited institution.
Grant budget and reporting experience.
Union and collective bargaining experience.
Bi-lingual Spanish and English

Summary of Essential Functions

Strategic Leadership/Project Management – 60%
Establish and maintain an effective and efficient strategic vision for operational leadership in response to the needs of the academic divisions, community, the requirements of the state, and college and program accrediting associations.
Oversee academic program evaluation processes. In collaboration with the faculty Co-Chair, serve as administrative lead for the Academic Department Review process. Serve as the administrative lead for the Program of Study process.
Mange the college’s academic programs and planning process including working with faculty to develop, revise, and sunset programs and certificates.
Oversee student learning outcomes assessment including serving as the administrative lead for the Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes process in collaboration with the faculty Co-Chair.
Oversee the Academic Dishonesty process including collaborating with Academic Standards Committee to provide training to deans and faculty, convening the Academic Standards Hearing Board, and ensuring timely and educational communication with students.
Develop and monitor budgets for the Office of Educational Affairs. Oversee the Instructional Equipment budget, collaborate with Academic Deans to manage the course fees approval and implementation process and faculty release and overload requests. Coordinate all budgets for the Educational Affairs Division.
Provide direction and oversight of federal and state grants including Postsecondary Perkins.

Proactively manage Educational Affairs board agenda item development on a monthly and annual basis.
Create communications, presentations, and reports in support of Educational Affairs goals. Monitors Educational Affairs college plan activities and analyzes progress for trends and impact.
Personnel Management and Labor Relations – 30%
Oversee the implementation of the faculty collective bargaining agreements.
Supervise and collaborate with the Assistant Director of Academic Planning and the Assistant Director of Operations to ensure effective operations in the Office of Educational Affairs and strategic curriculum management.

Other – 10%
Participate on strategic and/or functional cross-departmental teams, committees and councils.
Participate in professional associations/organizations and educational activities that enhance academic administration and leader competencies, knowledge, business and interpersonal skills. Remain knowledgeable of current state and federal laws, regulations, and trends in academics.
Perform any and all other duties assigned that support the mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives of College of Lake County and goals of the Educational Affairs unit.
