The analyst serves as a member of the OIRP team by leveraging different platforms and using various components of data science to support Bucknell's planning and reporting needs. This key position reports to the Assistant Provost for IR and Assessment. The analyst supports Bucknell's Strategic Plan and our commitment to make data informed decisions.

This position will be considered for scheduling flexibility to include hybrid / remote work based on staffing and business needs in compliance with the University's HR and Payroll requirements.

Job Duties:
  • Supports operations and conducts data analytics projects to provide information and insights to stakeholders for decision-making or solution development.
  • Implements data standards and deploys automation tools to extract, synthesize, and validate data from different sources and transform data into usable metrics.
  • Constructs data sets, monitors data quality to ensure data integrity.
  • Utilizes scripting and querying tools like Python, R or SQL, data visualization/BI tools, statistical methods, and data modeling to produce reports, data files, and dashboards.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to understand their needs, objectives, and requirements.
  • Manage data reporting to outside agencies (IPEDS, U.S. News & World Report, Common Data Set, College Board, Princeton Review etc.), ensuring timely and accurate submission of data.
  • Manage Bucknell's participation in many of the annual surveys that come from various consortia to which the University belongs (HEDS, AICUP, MSCHE, AACSB, ABET, etc.).
  • Verify official university data on publications for external audiences.
  • Provide support to student success indicatives through analyzing and reporting data.
  • Support Bucknell's strategic planning and accreditation process by providing accurate and timely data, analysis, and reports.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees of all divisions throughout the University, creating a collaborative atmosphere.
  • Coordinate updates of the department web site.
  • Supports and contributes to the University's commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a research-related field, such as statistics, data science, analytics, computer science, mathematics, social science, behavioral science; or Bachelor's Degree in a related field plus two years of experience in higher education or other relevant experience in data gathering, quantitative analysis, and/or data reporting.
  • Demonstrated data gathering, analytical and reporting skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with data visualization.
  • Demonstrated ability to be motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail.
  • Team-oriented and collaborative.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as possessing the ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to manage concurrent projects and to meet deadlines. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and in the use of statistical analysis software, such as SPSS or SAS.
  • Using a variety of statistical techniques collects, analyzes and interprets data from both internal and external sources


    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with database applications.
  • Two years of experience in Institutional Effectiveness, Assessment, and/or Research office.
  • Experience with SQL, Python, R
  • Experience with Cognos, Banner, Tableau, Workday or similar applications

    Work Type:
    This is a full-time, year round, benefits eligible position. This position will be considered for scheduling flexibility to include hybrid / remote work based on staffing and business needs in compliance with the University's HR and Payroll requirements.

    This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.

    Salary Range:
    This is a Staff Exempt position with a hiring range of $58,000 - $72,500 (E09). The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
