Job Description:

Amherst College invites applications for the Staff Accompanist position. The Staff Accompanist is a part-time, casual position, without benefits, starting at $50.00/hour. Given Amherst's distinction as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ways in which they bring value to and will work towards supporting a broadly diverse community.

The Staff Accompanist supports students in music lesson courses. Duties include performing alongside a diverse group of students for end-of-semester recitals; honors recitals; master classes; etc.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Support three to four one-hour "all-studio" performance recitals each semester
  
• Support roughly ten individual studio recitals each semester
  
• Occasional, limited drop-ins to lessons
  
• Master class accompanying (Music at Amherst series, etc.) or use by faculty (composition, etc.) 8-12 hours/semester
  

Qualifications:

Required

• Degree in collaborative piano, piano performance or similar
  
• Advanced piano and sight-reading skills
