Job Description:

Amherst College invites applications for the Music Lesson Coordinator position. The Music Lesson Coordinator is a part-time, casual position, without benefits, starting at $20.00/hour. Given Amherst's distinction as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ways in which they bring value to and will work towards supporting a broadly diverse community.

The music lesson coordinator serves as the administrator of the music lessons program, helping with the hiring of a diverse group of lesson instructors, with the integration of instructors into the College's practices, and with building community among the instructors. They serve as the primary link among the instructors, the students and the Music Department faculty at large.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Administers searches for instructors; onboards new instructors; communicates with instructors about departmental policies and procedures; works with Academic Department Coordinator (ADC) to administer payment to instructors; administers professional development activities for instructors
  
• Serves as roster manager for music lesson (MUSL) courses; administers schedules for individual instructors; schedules rooms for instruction and practice in consultation with the ADC; keeps enrollment records
  
• Communicates with students about lesson policies, studio assignments, and other information for MUSL courses
  
• Monitors student progress in MUSL courses and ensures students are receiving appropriate support and resources; administers grades for MUSL courses

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in music
