Operational Accountant
About the Opportunity
Job Summary:
The Operational Accountant is responsible for the identification, measurement and communication of the financial information. They coordinate current and new University financial operating processes to insure appropriate accounting and data control over university financial resources. Assist in preparation of the University financial statements and assist in the annual audit.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Review and approve system processed journal vouchers (K2) for
university campus departments, ensuring each transaction is valid,
complete, and accurate.
- Daily data control of all journal vouchers, system processed
journal vouchers (K2), and system uploads and feeds to banner
ePrint management reports to ensure all university wide financial
activity has been properly reflected in Banner Finance.
- Manage the daily suspense account for any errors in submitted
journal vouchers, system processed journal vouchers (K2), and
university wide uploads and feeds. Communication with the
individual finance submitter to resolve any errors and posting to
Banner Finance.
- Identify and resolve any irregularities related to the
financial accounting and posting of journal entries, system
processed journal entries (K2), uploads and feeds from the ePrint
Banner Finance report in comparison to the submitters original
source documents.
- Fulfill requests to set up new account numbers, index, fund,
and program codes university wide, including account code and
account roll up changes, and coordinate the moving of activity from
the closed account to the new account.
- Assist in the annual audits by providing detailed schedules and
testing data required from the auditors and finance
managers.
- Assist in reconciliations of asset and liability
accounts.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
B.S. Accounting and 4-6 years of experience is required. Knowledge and experience in financial systems. |Excellent analytical, problem solving and accounting skills essential |High attention to detail. |Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with both senior management and peers. Experience in higher education and Banner Finance a plus.
