Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications at Penn Engineering, the Marketing and Communications Specialist will be responsible for providing support for the overall communications and marketing strategies and efforts for Penn Engineering. This will be accomplished through a variety of communication and active public relations channels, including print and social media, internal and external newsletters, events, branding, sponsorships and other related strategies to effectively convey the work and message of the School.

This position will be responsible for managing the intake and organization of all MarComm projects, including responsibilities for: obtaining and integrating information from leaders and faculty to help with process management, outreach; organizing meetings and support with organizational needs;, organizing quarterly meetings, assist in maintaining the web site, blog, provide support as needed for writing and social media.

The Marketing and Communications Specialist will routinely work with constituents across the University to amplify the profile of Penn Engineering.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Traffic Coordinator for the MarComm team. This includes the coordination of all projects in the project management system and working directly with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure deadlines are met for all projects in the queue. Manage all Communications projects and ensure that transparent communications of project status are provided across the department.
  • Manage email development and distribution
  • Provide marketing support, including writing and proofing of materials and assets as needed
  • Provide administrative support to the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications, which includes scheduling meetings, managing calendar, etc.
  • Work directly with freelancers, agencies, and work study students, and provide general support for the Marketing and Communications team, as needed.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with various project management systems including: Monday, Basecamp, Airtable and/or wrike. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Knowledge and interest in innovation and/or scientific research preferred. This person must be able to work collaboratively, and be highly collegial and professional.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
