SUNY Broome Community College is a comprehensive community college located in the scenic Southern Tier of New York.  The College has over 7,700 students annually, and services over 6,100 students per semester in Liberal Arts, Business & Professional Studies, Health Sciences, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs.  An additional 1,600 students are served through the College's community education and non-credit programs.

Job Description:

SUNY Broome Community College is currently accepting applications for a part-time, 10-month Technical Assistant IIA in the Nursing Department Skills Laboratory.  In addition to day time hours, this 29.5 hour per week position will require flexibility in hours to accommodate evening classes 1 to 2 times per week as needed and 2 to 3 weekend days each semester.  The part-time Technical Assistant IIA works under the direct supervision of the Associate Dean of Nursing and is not responsible for primary instructional assignments.

Duties will include:

  • Set up, continuity, and clean-up of skills laboratory, supplies, and simulation equipment before, during, and after scheduled laboratory sessions.
  • Ensures working order of laboratory equipment and simulation mannikins including maintenance records and outreach to manufacturers and repair companies.
  • Supports the operation of simulation equipment during scheduled sessions and shuts down and stores appropriately after use.
  • Assists with maintaining accurate inventory of needed skills laboratory supplies and equipment.

Requirements:

An Associate's degree in a related field is required for this position.

This position requires a working knowledge of health care procedures and equipment.  Knowledge of simulation equipment and mannikins highly desired.  The Technical Assistant IIA works closely with the Department Chair, Faculty, the Clinical Nursing Skills Instructional Specialist,  and  students in the skills laboratory setting.

Additional Information:

The hourly rate of this position is $26.79.
