Position Summary: The Associate Controller is responsible to the Controller for assistance in the University’s financial
accounting and reporting, budgetary control, cash receipt and management of student accounting.
Duties/Responsibilities:
● Regular, predictable attendance on campus
● Alignment with University mission, vision, and strategic roadmap
● Oversee the overall operations of the Business Office (Accounting Department)
● Broad supervision of all unrestricted and restricted accounting activity to ensure sufficient
fiscal controls safeguarding institutional funds while allowing the institution to accomplish its
programmatic mission
● Assist Controller in coordinating financial statements, annual financial reports, audit activities,
and other information reports and requests
● Assist in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting
● Provide direction and assistance to university organizations regarding accounting and
budgeting policies and procedures, implementation of new practices and procedures, and
efficient control and use of financial resources
● Maintain current knowledge of and implement changes based on university policies and
procedures, federal policies and directives, and current accounting practices which directly or
indirectly impact the university
● Oversee recruitment, training, supervision of the accounting staff
● Involved in establishment and implementation of organizational goals, objectives, strategic
plans, policies, and operating procedures
● Monitor and evaluate programmatic and operational effectiveness and effects changes
required for improvement
● Oversee and implement computer software, hardware, networks, and provides leadership in
the management, design, and development of automated financial management systems
which support the fiscal and operational functions of the university
● Assist in planning, developing, and implementing strategies for generating resources and
revenues for the university

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgement in decision making
• Ability to work cooperatively and function efficiently in a team environment
• Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities
• Must possess excellent customer service skills, and an ability to serve and support all customers of the University (both internal and external)
• Ability to work with staff, faculty, students, and public
• Computer literacy and ability to learn and adapt to University software programs
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and specifically database management software preferred
Education and Experience:
• BS in Accounting or Business related field required
• Masters of Business or Accounting or CPA preferred
• Accounting knowledge required. Intermediate to advanced
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting preferred Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Intermediate to advanced computer experience
