SUNY Broome Community College is a comprehensive community college located in the scenic Southern Tier of New York.  The College has over 7,700 students annually, and services over 6,100 students per semester in Liberal Arts, Business & Professional Studies, Health Sciences, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs.  An additional 1,600 students are served through the College's workforce and non-credit programs.

Job Description:

SUNY Broome Community College has an immediate opening for a full-time, 12-month, tenure track faculty position as Nursing Clinical and Simulation Coordinator.  This position reports to the Associate Dean of Nursing.  Generous benefits package includes, but is not limited to liberal vacation and sick leave, Medical, Dental, and optional Vision and Flexible Benefit Plan.

The Coordinator will plan, coordinate, and oversee the clinical and simulation programs; act as a liaison between the Nursing Program and the affiliating clinical agencies and institutions; and will work collaboratively with the Associate Dean for Nursing, the Nursing Program Chair, the Nursing faculty, and other Nursing staff to ensure attainment of student learning and program goals.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates and schedules student clinical and simulation experiences and monitors clinical attendance and makeup schedules.
  • Collaborates with the Associate Dean, the Program Chair, and the Nursing faculty to develop, implement, and update clinical and simulation activities consistent with current best practices and accreditation standards.
  • Works with the Associate Dean to review and research policies and standard practices and procedures related to simulation with a focus on continuous quality improvement and makes recommendations.
  • Participates in clinical faculty orientation, attends clinical planning meetings, maintains contact with clinical faculty, and conducts clinical site visits acting as a liaison between the Nursing program and affiliating clinical agencies and institutions.
  • Explores opportunities for new clinical sites and assists with recruitment of clinical faculty.
  • Facilitates clinical site onboarding and compliance for faculty and students.
  • Ensures training and operational use of all simulation equipment for students and staff, maintains inventories of simulation equipment and supplies, and formulates budget recommendations.

Requirements:

A Master's degree in Nursing is required.

A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is accepted, and the individual must be in progress towards a Master's degree in Nursing attained within four (4) years of hire.

Must be licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in New York State.

Must obtain Certified Health Simulation Education (CHSE) certification within two (2) years of hire.

Three (3) to four (4) years of nursing experience with two (2) years of hospital-based clinical nursing experience is required.

Medical, surgical, and simulation experience is preferred.  Teaching experience is desired.

One (1) year of appropriate leadership experience is desired.

This position requires travel to and from the college and affiliating clinical agencies/institutions.

Additional Information:

The annual salary for this position is $72,207.

Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
