Job Description:

 

The Director of the Writing Center is a full-time, 12-month leadership position within Student Academic Success and Engagement (SASE) at Siena College. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Director will:

 

  • Lead and manage the Writing Center: hire, train, supervise, and provide ongoing professional development to WC staff including undergraduate writing tutors and two professional tutors; manage day-to-day operations and, in consultation with the AVPAA, set strategic direction for the WC Provide direct professional writing support to Siena students and pedagogical support to faculty Teach one section of Siena 101 each Fall semester one section of Writing 240: Peer Tutoring in Writing each Spring semester Serve on College committees and assist with student retention and success initiatives Serve on the SASE leadership team and advise the AVPAA on matters related to writing and academic support

Annual salary for this position: $58,380 - $61,299

Job Requirements:

 

  • A Master's degree in Composition/Rhetoric and/or English Two or more years teaching composition or other writing-intensive English courses Two or more years tutoring in a Writing Center One or more years working with ESL students One or more years working with at-risk students One or more years of supervisory experience Planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills Commitment to working effectively with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds Proficiency with technology (MS Office Suite, Google Suite, etc.) A background screening will be required.
