Job Description

The Communications Data Specialist is an important member of the Philanthropy and Engagement Division. Reporting to the Communications Director, the specialist will oversee digital communication and project management support specific to Annual Philanthropy, Senior and Associate Philanthropy Advisors, Alumni and Family Engagement for communications, events, appeals and stewardship projects intended to bring alumni, families and friends into meaningful lifelong relationships with the college. Through creating customized and personalized communication opportunities, the Communications Data Specialist contributes to the overall philanthropy and engagement goals of the division. This team member will add to a productive and inclusive workplace environment, establishing relationships with colleagues across the Philanthropy and Engagement division and other campus partners to foster collaboration and engage alumni, families, donors and friends of the college.

As a member of a communications team, the Communications Data Specialist will oversee digital communication; maintaining segmented audiences, analyzing data and strategically overseeing the communication plan for constituents. This team is responsible for coordinating and producing communication projects for Hope Forward, Annual Philanthropy, Alumni and Family Engagement, Corporate Engagement, Principal and Planned Giving, Major Gifts, Donor Relations and Stewardship, and future fundraising campaigns. The team will work together to produce timely, high-quality materials that follow established brand guidelines

Responsibilities
Work closely with the Associate Vice President of Principal and Planned Giving and the Annual Philanthropy team to oversee a strategic communication plan to engage donors with the college and inspire giving. ● Oversee digital communication, audience building and segmenting for the Philanthropy and Engagement teams utilizing existing platforms (MailChimp and Raiser’s Edge). ● Utilize constituent contact information for segmented campaigns specific to affinity giving and engagement through Raiser’s Edge, partnering with Philanthropy Services. ● Analyze open rates, click rates and overall return on communication constituent activity through MailChimp in order to advise leadership on the overall communication plan. ● Work closely with the Communications Director to implement a consistent process for identifying, prioritizing, and completing communication projects across the division including email campaigns, website development and social media campaigns. ● Assist with other communications projects and divisional programs as assigned by the Communications Director. ● Consistently implement established brand guidelines and other communication standards for Hope College and Hope Forward. ● Promote and contribute to a dynamic, high functioning collegial team culture; embracing and advancing the values and contributions of culture and inclusive excellence.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Well-qualified candidates will have at least: ● One to three years of previous experience in communication, project management or related field. ● Excellent communication skills with a strong attention to detail. ● Experience communicating with various target audiences through a variety of communication channels. ● Demonstrated skill and experience in project management. ● Knowledge of digital communication technologies. ● Commitment to the Christian mission of Hope College ● Motivated, enthusiastic, collaborative and able to work independently as a part of a dynamic team.

Physical Demands

This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a computers, printers, copy machines; Occasionally involves moving items over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities.
