Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Classification & Compensation
  • Under general supervision, this position is responsible for assisting with the University’s employment program by evaluating the appropriate employment types and classifications for positions and determining pay rates for employees. In addition, this position will assist with the implementation of the Human Resource & Affirmative Action programs and procedures that will support the operational needs of the University, while assuring compliance with University and BOT policies and procedures and state and federal regulations, including the State Universities Civil Service System ( SUCSS ). The position requires extensive contact with internal and external hiring departments, agencies, and other administrative personnel.
Talent Acquisition
  • Under general supervision, this position is responsible for assisting with the University’s Talent Acquisition program, identifying, recruiting and retaining talent. In addition, this position will assist with the implementation of the Human Resource, Affirmative Action & Equal Opportunity programs and procedures that will support the operational needs of the university, while assuring compliance with University and BOT policies and procedures and state and federal regulations, including the State Universities Civil Service System ( SUCSS ). The position requires extensive contact with internal and external hiring departments, agencies, and other administrative personnel.
Student/Graduate Assistants
  • Under direct supervision, this position serves as a Human Resource professional in all matters relating to the processing of Student Workers and Graduate Assistant employment documents. The position requires contact with internal and external hiring departments and other personnel.
Faculty/ SPS Staff
  • Under direct supervision, this position serves as a Human Resource professional in all matters relating to the processing of Faculty & Supportive Professional Staff employment documentation. The position requires contact with internal and external hiring departments and other personnel.
Minimum Required Qualifications (Civil Service)

CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. A) 30 semester hours of college course work in human resource administration, business administration or a closely related field AND two (2) years of progressively more responsible work experience maintaining, monitoring, and/or processing human resource records and reports

    OR

    B) 60 semester hours of college course work or an Associate’s degree in human resource administration, business administration or a closely related field AND eighteen (18) months of progressively more responsible work experience maintaining, monitoring, and/or processing human resource records and reports

    OR

    C) 90 semester hours of college course work in human resource administration, business administration or a closely related field AND one (1) year of progressively more responsible work experience maintaining, monitoring, and/or processing human resource records and reports

    OR

    D) 120 semester hours of college course work or a Bachelor’s degree in human resource administration, business administration or a closely related field


OR

E) three (3) years of progressively more responsible work experience maintaining, monitoring, and/or processing human resource records and reports

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) (Civil Service)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
  1. Knowledge of standard principles and procedures used in human resource and ability to apply those used in complex technical operations in human resource.
  2. Knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and/or regulations related to public human resource administration; ability to learn those of the employing institution.
  3. Knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and their applications.
  4. Skill in organizing, analyzing, and interpreting data.
  5. Skill in working with managers, staff, and the public.
  6. Skill in writing and editing reports and other materials.
  7. Skill in verbal and written communication.
  8. Ability to work with frequent distractions.
  9. Ability to work with electronic data processing hardware and software.
  10. Ability to direct the work of others.
  11. Ability to understand and interpret written procedures and guidelines.
  12. Ability to understand computerized information systems and related reports.
  13. Ability to assist in the formulation/revision of human resource policies and procedures.
