Job Description:

The Department of Agricultural Engineering Technology at SUNY Cobleskill invites applications for Academic Year (10-month) faculty as an Instructor for Agricultural Engineering to start in August of 2023. 

The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses in the Department of Agricultural Engineering Technology at the certificate, associate, and baccalaureate degree levels. They should have a thorough and broad understanding of modern equipment used in the construction, agricultural and energy industries. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in the following categories:

  • Off-Road Equipment Principles
  • Hybrid/Electric Vehicle and Equipment Principles
  • Electrical/Electronic Systems
  • Hydraulic/Hydrostatic Systems
  • Dealership Retailing and Management
  • Business and Computer Applications
  • Principles of Physics Courses

Additional teaching assignments may be in the areas of instrumentation, agricultural mechanics, and diesel engines.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in curriculum development (classroom and online), student advisement, internship supervision, industry collaboration, student recruitment, assessment, and the development and delivery of industry training programs. Expectations also include engagement in scholarship, grant writing, campus governance and other service. Teaching assignments may be weekday, evenings, weekend, and online.

The successful applicant must have a strong interest in higher education and be enthusiastic about creating an educational environment that is innovative and inspiring to students in the classroom and in the field.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Engineering Technology, Agricultural Education, or Agricultural Systems Management, or closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, effective communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work as part of a dynamic team in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • At least three years of professional experience in a related field. 

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the aforementioned minimum qualifications, it is preferred the candidate also have: 

  • Master's or a PhD in Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Engineering Technology, Agricultural Education, or Agricultural Systems Management, or closely related discipline.
  • Three or more years of teaching and curriculum development experience at the college level in the area of agricultural equipment technology.
  • Five or more years of professional experience in the agricultural or construction equipment industry.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing industry partnerships in the agricultural or construction equipment industry and/or the ability to facilitate procurement of resources in an academic environment.

Additional Information:

  • The salary range is $50,000 - $60,000
  • Additional opportunities are available to supplement salaries
  • This is a tenure-track, full-time position.
