JOB TITLE:

Assistant Professor of Public Health

JOB PURPOSE:

Division of Kinesiology and Health, College of Health Sciences, University of Wyoming is seeking an Assistant Professor of Public Health (full time, tenure track) beginning August 2023 with an emphasis in Health Promotion/Health Behavior.

We are seeking someone with public health expertise in creating conditions for healthy behaviors and behavior change and/or in creating behavioral interventions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop an active and independent research program in public health that leads to refereed publications in the scientific community, national/international presentations, and acquisition of funding to support the research.
  • Provide quality instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels in health behavior change and in related areas within the candidate’s area of expertise.
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate (masters or doctoral) students.
  • Provide service to the division, college, university, and state, as well as to the greater professional society.
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Earned doctorate in public health, health promotion/health behavior, health psychology, or a closely related field from a n accredited institution.
  • Evidence of ability to teach courses in public health and health promotion at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Evidence of ability to generate research contributions in public health related fields.
  • Evidence of expertise in health promotion, health behavior, or health psychology.
  • Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Evidence of research contributions in public health related fields, such as publications in peer-reviewed journals and record of pursuing and securing funding for research.
  • Evidence of effective and engaging teaching in health promotion/health behavior or health psychology courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Ability to teach motivational interviewing.
  • Experience of working with diverse populations.
  • Evidence of successful measures to make classrooms and/ or research projects proactively inclusive.
